52 Walks 2010: week 1

It's the first day back to school after the Christmas holidays and it looks like only the Infants schools are open here. So with Jamie safely deposited at school and Rosie at nursery and with the snow still falling I finally took myself off for a walk to the post office, camera in hand.

My photo's for this first walk are of Burnby Hall Gardens, closed due to the slippery pathways, but with a clear view of the lake from the entrance I took these. The posts you can see are in the lake and mark the various varities in the huge water lily collection, as you can see the lake is frozen over and mainly covered by the snow.

With all this glorious sunshine we've had again today the kids and I went to Burnby Hall Gardens so that I could do my module for PwL "The Sequel" and, of course, go to the play area. The gardens are as always looking lovely and it won't be long before the water lillies will be open. There are lots of little areas within the garden that are secret little trails, the photo is of the start of one.

We spent a couple of hours over at Burnby Hall Gardens today. I left Chris with the kids in the play area while I went for a walk. Of all the photo's I took though, this one is my favourite. Part of the climbing frame - for a brief second without a kid on it.

Although the day promised to be nice and sunny, it wasn't, but we still went as planned to Burnby Hall Gardens. The gardens have a huge lake housing the National Collection of Hardy Water Lilies. No lilies at the moment, but the fish were hungry.
