just because...

Sometimes Chris buys me flowers for no other reason than "just because". He came home from the school run a couple of days ago via a trip to the florists and today the roses were open and looking gorgeous.

I've lost track of the days now, and the dates I took photo's, but here are a couple to share. Chris sent me flowers last week when I have having a particularly horrid day, so I took some close ups a few days later in an attempt to get the camera out again.

Just outside our patio door was a beautiful Honeysuckle.

Raindrops keep falling on my head.....

I've actually made a start on this weeks module for PwL The Sequel, helped by the fact that we had a great thunder storm this afternoon. I thought I'd share this photo with you my photo of the day.

The alliums Jamie and I planted under the living room window were out in flower when we got home and they are just lovely. Sadly they have been joined by a load of weeds as well. Just waiting for the rain to ease off so I can get out there and tidy the bed up. Hopefully the colour and beauty of the alliums will distract peoples eyes from the weeds.

I love having flowers in the house and its something that I never used to go without, but its a rare thing these days, so on Friday I picked up this lovely bouquet from M&S.

I wondered in from the garden today and noticed that one of the flowers on the cactus that featured on day 54 had opened. I said it would be back....

Spring flowers, not from my garden - no sign of any flower heads there yet, but these bunches of daffodils are courtesy of M&S. I have them in a half glazed jug on my kitchen windowsill and can't wait for them to open. I always buy bunches of them when they are available, such a cheerful flower and I feel in need of a little cheer this week.

The lily has finally opened! Oh the scent when I go near it is wonderful. Not a great photo but I was so busy yesterday that I had to take it without daylight.

I love lilies, and as strange as this may sound, I have a single lily at the moment living in a wine bottle. The flower isn't open yet, but I loved the view looking down the stem where a small cluster of leaves comes off.

We moved to our house 6 weeks before Rosie was due to be born in 2007 and as the gardener of the family I haven't had much chance to get out and do anything since. I managed to get some things done last summer, but Rosie is one of those children that means everything goes in her mouth, so when it comes to gardening - you don't really get much done.

Yesterday I took a little look around to work out what I need to do this year and came across this flower, standing all on it's own, tucked away, but what a welcome splash of colour this time of year.
